Man arrested for carving Chinese characters on girlfriend

BEIJING — Authorities in northeast China have arrested a man who carved more than 100 defamatory Chinese characters on his girlfriend’s body after she tried to break up with him, local media reported Wednesday.

Authorities in Baishan City, Jilin Province, arrested the 52-year-old man on suspicion of “seriously injuring his girlfriend” by etching words into her skin, the English-language Shanghai Daily reported. “He allegedly dipped a sewing machine needle in ink and carved out defamatory phrases, consisting of more than 100 Chinese characters, over her body,” it said.     And she had eloped to Chengdu in Sichuan with her 36-year-old boyfriend for a better life in the city.

    But a worse fate lay ahead when he suspected her of having a secret lover.

    Enraged, he pounced on her, allegedly tattooing on her body several foul words in blue ink.

    Words like ‘slut’ and ‘immoral’ were tattooed on her chest, thigh and private parts.

    MORE THAN A HUNDRED CUTS

    He left more than a hundred cuts on her body, including her face.

    His reason?

    ‘Because I love her.’

    Last Thursday, she underwent emergency plastic surgery for 2 1/2 hours in a Chongqing specialist hospital.

    Removing the tattoos was painstaking work as the cuts were deep and the blue ink had seeped in thoroughly.

    Especially challenging was removing the tattoos on her chest.

    The doctors had to clean the wounds cut by cut along each stroke of the Chinese characters.

    They started on her face before moving on to her chest and thigh.

    They will waive all costs and fees….

    IN a similar incident in April, a Taiwan man used his third wife’s body as a canvas for his rage.

    Whenever he got angry, Mr Li, 29, from Jiayi County, used to turn on his wife, Ms Wei, 31.

    Using a needle, he would carve obscenities in Chinese characters on her body.

    She said that she allowed him to do so out of fear for the safety of their young son….
