Taipei MRT stations in Chinese characters, Hanyu Pinyin, and some English

Táiběi Jiéyùn Zhàn, 台北捷運站

Taipei MRT map, with line names in Pinyin

This page lists all stations along the Taipei MRT system as of March 2007, giving the name in Chinese characters, Hanyu Pinyin, and the mix of English and Hanyu Pinyin used in the system itself.

The stations are grouped by the line they are along.

Since Taiwan has been so sloppy with its romanization in the past (a legacy that, alas, remains present all too much) I am also providing some common variant spellings so that people uncertain of or misinformed about the correct spellings will have a better chance of finding this page through search engines.

Important: The Mandarin name for every station ends with zhàn (站 / "station"). In the interest of simplicity I have omitted this word from the names in the Hanyu Pinyin column. But you should remember to add this or the fuller form of "jiéyùn zhàn" ("MRT station") if asking for directions.

The MRT is a subway system only between the Xindian and Minquan West Road stations, and the Nanshijiao and Minquan West Road stations. Elsewhere it is primarily an elevated system, though one section near Danshui is at ground level.

If you would like to comment on this list of MRT stations, you may do so on my blog under the entry for Taipei MRT stations -- a list giving Hanyu Pinyin with tone marks.
