Knopf)<\/li>\n<li>Timothy Egan, <em>The Worst Hard Time: The Untold Story of Those Who Survived the Great American Dust Bowl<\/em> (Houghton Mifflin)<\/li>\n<li>Lawrence Wright, <em>The Looming Tower: Al-Qaeda and the Road to 9\/11<\/em> (Alfred A. Knopf)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.firstsecondbooks.net\/abc\/abcGift023.html\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/pinyin.info\/news\/news_photos\/2006\/10\/american_born_chinese.gif\" alt=\"panel from American Born Chinese. The boy's teacher says 'He and his family recently moved to our neighborhood all the way from China.'  He says 'San Francisco.' She corrects herself: 'San Francisco.'\" style=\"width: 130px; height: 197px; float: right;\" \/><\/a><br \/>\nAlso of likely interest to many readers of Pinyin News is a finalist in the category of Young People&#8217;s Literature, <em>American Born Chinese<\/em>, by Gene Yang. (The National Book Award&#8217;s site gives an incorrect title: <em>America Born Chinese<\/em>.)
